He was called Philip. He attended St. Joseph School. He later worked as cook at 130 N. 10th St. He worked as clerk in feed store 1865-1869. He also worked on the family farm and did harness work. Retired to STL after 1883? He worked in a furniture factory until its bankruptcy. After that he was employed by a work cloths manufacturer in his home, transporting clothes by Street car. He also worked at the docks.
He became an alcoholic when working at the docks.
