Notes for Maxcine Grooms
Obituary Maxcine Smith (nee Grooms), age 88 of St. Louis, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2020. Maxcine was born on Friday, June 26, 1931 in Rector Arkansas, the daughter of Tyler and Bernice (nee Hogeland) Grooms. She was a factory worker, the conductor for the Scruggs Department Store's Christmas train for children, a beautician and a very proud wife and mother.

Maxcine was preceded in death by her father, Tyler Grooms; her mother, Bernice Grooms; her loving husband, Dillon Smith; her baby girl, Kathy; her brother, Arlynn (Norma Jean) Jones; and her sister, Freda (George) Smith.
Maxcine is survived by her three sons, Steve (Kathy) Smith, Gary Smith and John Smith; her brothers, Norman Grooms and Alva (Sandy) Jones; her sister, Reba Jones; her grandchildren, Melanie (Vamsi) Nukala and Jerod Smith; two great-grandchildren, Kiran and Kethan; special friends, Chris, Tiny and Betty; and so many other wonderful family members and friends.

Maxcine loved to dance, enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals (although not always a fan of their coaches and managers), and bought herself a Nash Metropolitan in 1959 which later led to her husband's collection of them. She would tell you what she thought in a "New York minute."
