Services for Floyd A. Sowers, 68, 2030 3rd ave., retired employee of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific railroad who died suddenly Monday morning, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Julian-Poorman funeral home, 304 N. 5th st. The Rev. Jack Mendelsohn, Jr., pastor of the Church of the Christian Union, Unitarian, will officiate. Burial will be in Willwood Burial park. Mr. Sowers became ill Monday morning while working at the Bausch and Lomb Optical company in the Talcott building, where he had been employed since August, 1948.
Marvin A. Bryan, manager of the firm, noticed that Mr. Sowers was ill and sent him home. Mr. Sowers collapsed in his home a short time later. He was taken in an ambulance to Swedish-American hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Born March 17, 1883, in Sycamore, the son of George and Lillian Sowers, Mr. Sowers had lived in Loves Park and Rockford for the last 19 years. He married the former Lillian Grant on Sept. 10, 1910, in Freeport.
He had retired from service with the railroad company four years ago. He was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors.
Surviving, in addition to his widow, are a daughter, Mrs. Frederick Zink, Westfield, N.J.; a grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Nina Howell, Davenport, Fla., and Mrs. Josephine Smith, Glendale, Cal.; and a brother, Andrew Sowers, Wauconda, Ill.

Is the daughter (Mrs. Frederick Zink) from his second wife or is it Mabel?
