ELBURN – Leonard Hill Stidley, 86, of Elburn, died Sept. 8, 2012, at Manor Care in Naperville. He was born Sept. 1, 1926, in New York City, to Leonard A. and Constance (Hill) Stidley. He grew up in New York City, Decatur and Oberlin, Ohio. He served in the Navy during
World War II and the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the University of Illinois with B.S. and M.S. degrees.

On Feb. 5, 1949, he married Marcia Bannister in DeKalb. He was employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections and retired in June 1986 after 31 years.

He was past president of the Town and Country Library Board and helped with the planning of the new library building. Leonard enjoyed genealogy and spent many hours on his family history. He also was a Sudoku enthusiast.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marcia; four children, Gerald of Washington, D.C., Sharon (Bruce) Seedall of Gilbert, Ariz., Keith of Lisle and Chris (Ed Bedrick) of Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Connie (Tom) Pexton of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in DeKalb at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Town and Country Library in Elburn.
